-- The Visual Mind --

An Introduction

I greatly enjoy photography and the process of film making; throughout the years, I have continuously learned more and more about the art of capturing images, not least from my father who sparked my interest in the first place. One particular aspect that has attracted my special attention: macrophotography.

I guess it’s as simple as the fact that the macro-range offers very unique possibilities which makes it so fascinating; after all, it is a world of its very own, quite narrow yet incredibly wide and open.

I love to capture architecture, plants or landscapes; whatever I perceive as visually appealing to me, I like to frame it up. Sometimes, I like to tell a little story to these images, so I combine the captured picture with writing, add a short inscription, or a little piece of poetry.

At some point, my interest in film making derived itself from photography; I like the idea of telling a story by seeing the words I write come to life as I work with cast and crew.

Throughout my time at Glasgow Clyde College, I was able to create my first projects I wrote and directed; I was very fortunate to have been able to use high quality, industry standard equipment to achieve these goals.

See below, a small overview of the projects I have been, or am still in some way involved in.

I like words because I can connect a visceral, profound meaning to them -- I suppose the same can be said of imagery, of course -- but for some reason, words are something beautiful; sometimes, it's simply fascinating how precise a single word can be.

I enjoy trying to find ways to express myself in few a words just as much as I enjoy using many. Having said that, words can lead to more: they can be drawn from the page, carefully arranged into motion, we capture them through a lens and project them onto a screen.
We create a photograph or record a clip or two, then weave it into a film. I have enjoyed writing very poetic content, I do however seek to expand my range.

As a highlight in second year (HND at GCC), for a week, I got to work as a runner on a professional, independent feature film, Isolani by R. Paul Wilson.
